Philips Sonicare Diamondclean Smart Electric Toothbrush Review

Philips recently launched the DiamondClean Smart, a new version of its high-end toothbrush with all functions.

Not only does it connect to your iPhone via a Bluetooth connection to help you brush better than before, but it has also been redesigned to disassociate brushing mode from the intensity.

There are new smart brushes for more personalized brushing, additional modes to meet different needs, and other small improvements that bring overall improvements.

I’ve been using Sonicare toothbrushes for over 5 years and for the past five years I’ve had a DiamondClean. This new DiamondClean toothbrush will make your teeth whiter, healthier and cleaner, but with prices starting at $ 230, it’s not expensive, and the application is sometimes more astute than useful. Overall, you will not find a better brushing experience.

  • Good oral hygiene starts with effective tooth brushing – it’s just as important to your smile as it is to the health of your entire body.
  • The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart Electric Toothbrush ($ 230) uses high-quality parts and smart technology to clean teeth more effectively.
  • After using the brush for a few weeks, not only were my teeth cleaner, but the connected app also helped me improve my brushing habits and techniques.

A smile is one of the first things people notice about you, so I’ve always done my best to take good care of my teeth.

My brother had splints twice, so after my first start, I knew I had to develop good habits. It meant carrying a restraint most nights, brushing my teeth twice a day, splashing in Crest Whitestrips and keeping flossing with me (almost) at all times. I am happy to say that most of the time, my teeth remained very straight and without spots.

However, taking care of your smile is important, it goes beyond your first impressions: neglecting your teeth can lead to many problems, such as bad breath and cavities. More importantly, poor dental hygiene can cause a wide range of diseases, including dementia, gum disease, and diabetes.

Visiting your dentist twice a year is important, but these 363 other days of the year, you must take care of these pearly whites.

The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day and flossing at least once in between. You probably already knew this, but the key to cleaning the pads is not the amount of brush used, but the way you brush it.

Most dentists agree that a manual toothbrush can clean your teeth as well as an electric toothbrush. make sure to hold on for the full two minutes. Even as a proud person with strong oral hygiene habits, I was guilty of shortening my sessions when I rushed in the morning and being a lazy scrubber when I was tired at night.

When my manual toothbrush was used

An electric toothbrush seemed like an easy solution for better cleaning. With all the bells and whistles that work together to keep your teeth without plaque, all you have to do is hold the brush.

So when the opportunity arose to test one of the best electric toothbrushes on the market, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart Sonic, I was excited, though skeptical.

Would a $ 230 toothbrush really be more effective than a more affordable option? Is an electric toothbrush even better than a manual toothbrush in the first place?

The jury still does not know what kind of toothbrush is the best, which made me even more curious. This and the high price led me to test the brush and do a quasi-case study.

Philips Sonicare Diamondclean Smart – Final Review

Probably the most famous electric toothbrush in the world, the Sonicare is certainly one of the elite brands available worldwide, and rightly so. Let’s explore the reasons why!

What comes with the DiamondClean Smart toothbrush?

The Smart Sonic arrives in what looks more like a box worthy of a high-tech speaker than a toothbrush – that is to say it is quite big. When you open the box, you’ll find everything you could need from a toothbrush: a brush, four different heads, a USB travel case, a charger/glass to rinse, access to a tracking app and instructions to use everything. , including the app that helps you optimize your technique.

Using the DiamondClean Smart toothbrush

When I received the package, I was so excited to use the toothbrush that I barely looked at the instructions. He was already fully loaded and ready to use. So I just slipped one of the smart heads and turned on the brush.

There are two buttons on the brush handle – the power button and the mode button. By pressing the mode button, you can select the optimal mode for your teeth cleaning needs.

As it is a smart brush, the handle can indicate the desired mode depending on the brush head used. So, when I clicked in the head of the whitening brush, my toothbrush was able to use the whitening parameter.

Using the DiamondClean Smart toothbrush

The brush felt good on my teeth – I could feel the oscillating hairs reach the corners and the often forgotten holes. Suddenly, a bright pink light began to blink on the edge of the handle.

I did not know what that meant, so I stopped brushing my teeth.

After experimenting with my technique, I realized that this light told me to brush more gently. After a little more time brushing my teeth gently, the brush stopped automatically – I guess it was two minutes.

When I use Philips Sonicare Diamondclean I am so impressed by the feeling of my teeth. I felt as if I had just been thoroughly cleaned by my dentist after a quick two-minute brushing session. I was really excited about getting up the next morning and brushing my teeth – which I did not usually expect.

Philips Sonicare Diamondclean features

After using the DiamondClean smart brush for about 2 weeks, it needed to be recharged. When the battery is low, a flashing battery signal appears on the brush.

I went to get the charger, which was still in the original box. That’s when I realized that I had not taken advantage of one of the most interesting features of the brush: the application that helps you, monitor, improve and maximize your four minutes of brushing a day.

Getting into the app was a rather intuitive process. Once downloaded, you create a profile by completing some basic data as well as your tooth concerns (for example, is your main goal to whiten or focus on gum care?). Once this is done, you connect your brush via Bluetooth and brush your teeth. This is where things became interesting.

I was a skeptic – I knew how to brush my teeth, I thought, waiting for the app to be downloaded to my phone. I wondered what this app could possibly do if not a gadget.

Well, I ended up being impressed – this app gave me useful information that motivated me to become a better brusher. Here’s how:

When you start brushing, you will see a map of the mouth and a timer on your screen. The map shows which areas to focus on and for how long. She divided me into six sections and told me to devote about 20 seconds to each section.

The brush has an intelligent location sensor and tracks movements in real-time. It tells you if you do not follow the given instructions and will redirect you.

When I moved my brush out of the designated brushing range, the app warned me to use less movement. Similarly, when I brushed too hard a specific area, the application (and the light ring at the end of the handle) warned me to use less pressure.

2-minutes power – DiamondClean Smart

When the two minutes are up, the app will use its editing feature to show you the points you missed. This part was pretty shocking – the map of the mouth shows the areas you missed in yellow and I have a lot of yellow.

The goal here is to help you see which areas have not been brushed enough so you can try them a second time. As you clean, you will see the yellow turn white on the application, indicating that your teeth have been sufficiently cleaned. This made me doubt the effectiveness of my usual brushing methods.

After the last cleaning cycle, the application asks you if you brushed your tongue, floss, and rinsed. Answer yes or no depending on what you actually did – the app keeps this information in a calendar so you can know how often you perform these extra tactics of cleaning teeth.

The detailed buccal chart not only helped me brush my teeth more effectively at the time but also made me think about how I can brush more effectively every time.

Seeing the areas you missed works as a small, fun challenge – motivating you to do better next time. And, the compliments I received on my teeth tell me that they really look whiter.

Pros

  • 5 cleaning modes
  • 3 cleaning intensities
  • BrushSync Technology – reminder when brush heads need to be replaced
  • Bluetooth connectivity to associate with a smartphone app to track cleaning performance
  • Pressure sensor – be alerted when brushing too hard
  • Long battery life
  • Premium Travel Case

Cons

  • The contents of the box could be better for the price
  • Very expensive

Bottom Line – Philips Sonicare Diamondclean Smart

Overall, I liked my experience with the DiamondClean Smart toothbrush so far. The brush itself gives you a gentle but powerful cleanse every time.

The app leaves nothing to the imagination and tells you everything you need to know about improving your brushing regime – it’s also very easy to use, with many easy-to-follow instructions, a particular benefit for those who do not count technology. as one of their strengths. The app will detect even when your brush head needs to be changed and can automatically order a new one for you.

The load glass not only looks elegant on a bathroom counter, but it ensures that the brush does not tip over – which has always frustrated me about electric toothbrushes in the past.

I have not used the travel suit yet, but knowing that I can carry this toothbrush with me while keeping it clean and loaded is a weight for me – after all, if you pay a good price toothbrush, you should not have to buy another for a trip.

If you have trouble brushing your teeth regularly, the intuitive and attractive features of this smart brush could motivate you. However, I think it’s a great product for anyone looking to improve their brushing routine.

Still, a $ 230 toothbrush is undeniably expensive, especially if you compare it to a $ 5 brush that you could buy at the pharmacy. If you think of it only as a toothbrush, that’s a lot, but if you also consider it as a smart wellness device, the price may not seem so exorbitant.

Of course, there are many excellent electric toothbrushes at much more affordable prices – many of my colleagues swear by those you could win for $ 50, which is significantly easier to separate.

If you choose to buy it, you can be sure that the DiamondClean Smart toothbrush will leave you with a bright smile – and more thoughtful brushing habits for years to come.
